With lockdown continuing on beyond what was the initial three weeks, as laid out by the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, attention moved to other past-times, including watching content from the streaming platform, Netflix.
One of the recent additions to Netflix was the great musical film, La La Land, featuring Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as the two lead actors.
This pier features one of the iconic scenes within the movie and is recognisable to those who have seen the film. The pier is at Hermosa Beach, in California and is where Ryan Gosling’s character begins to sing the movie-hit track, ‘City of Stars’
Again, in this piece, similar to the South Parade Pier, the composition of the pier isn’t quite right. The angle of the pier in this creation appears as though it is on an upwards gradient rather than being flat. The bench is also out of proportion.
However, overall the creation offers a sunset glow over the pale sea that you would find in California – with the pier taking a wooden brown look and the lampost giving out an early evening glow.
