This creation was undertaken as life in the UK was becoming somewhat normal again. We were easing out of the third national lockdown and the Prime Minister of the UK, Boris Johnson, had outlined that the so-called ‘unlocking’ of the country would happen in stages. It was a strange time, but what we know as normal life was within sight once again.
Anyway, as previously stated on this site and mentioned within descriptions of other creations, travel abroad for holiday purposes has been out of the question throughout the pandemic, to limit the spread of the Sars-Cov-2 virus, known as Covid-19. This creation was partly inspired by the desire to travel.
In 2010, South Africa hosted the FIFA World Cup – a world cup that would be remembered for the iconic vuvuzela that orchestrated the crowd for every match. Cape Town was one of the locations across South Africa that hosted football matches throughout the tournament and hosted one of the semi-final matches.
Cape Town has always been on the travel bucket list and still remains so today. A brilliant city where the Atlantic and Pacific, two of the world’s greatest oceans, meet. Famous for Table Mountain which overlooks the city and ocean.

This creation was to give a take on the iconic city – showcasing its densely built urban area, the green open spaces, the stadium that hosted World Cup matches, the mountains known as the twelve disciples, the impressive and recognisable backdrop of Table Mountain and the coastline that is famous for the surf generated by two of the planet’s greatest oceans meeting.
One day, travel will reopen following the pandemic and Cape Town will move from the list of ‘wanting to visit’ to ‘visited’.
